Hope
![]() |
Hope loved to bark. When a car turned into our roadway a 800 metres away, she'd sound the alarm. A city dog, she plied her guardianship job by barking at passers by and so caught the attention of the authorities. She came to us as a rescue dog (Great Pyrenées Rescue) because she was unwelcome by the neighbours. We weren't able to send her anywhere else. She charmed us. She stayed with us until her arthritis incapacitated her. An elegant house dog, she didn't like rain or being wet or cold. Her bath had to be lukewarm. She slept on the carpet at the foot of my bed. She loved to jog with us. Coquette, she insisted on being brushed every week, or more if I could find time. When I sat in my rocker, she would sit where my hand could reach down to stroke her head. |

Opale ![]() In memoriam |
Beautiful Opale was our matron for a long time. She watched everything. She checked everything. Curious to the point of being bothersome, she would nose around everywhere to be sure that all was safe, and she accompanied us everywhere to be sure we were safe. The afternoon of October 6th 2005, she lay down on the grass in the sun to watch over the fields and the harvesting. About 4:45 p.m., she gently slipped away to join her Roman ancestors in the Elysian Fields. |

D'Artagnan dit "Pitou" |
||||||||
![]() |
Our very first Pyr, Pit bewitched us and stole our hearts and our lives. He instilled in us the love of Pyreneans and illuminated our lives forevermore. He developed cancer and allowed himself to die within a few months of great friend who had died of a heart attack. He searched for him inside the house and out. He waited for him every evening and six months later, finally, he followed his friend. |
